The Academy’s ballet program, for students three and a half years and older, is an integrated part of the Vancouver Academy of Music curriculum. Classes are available for dancers at all levels. Students receive instruction in classical ballet, mime, jazz, and character dance. Each year many of the students participate in the Royal Academy of Dancing examinations.
Soonee Lee, former principal of the Singapore Ballet Academy and a member of the Arts Council of Singapore, and Alice Gerbrecht De Nofrio, former dancer with Ballet Theatre of Boston and the Louisville Ballet, are the directors of the Academy Ballet program. All applicants for admissions are interviewed, and students over twelve years of age who are new to the Academy should have a minimum of two years ballet study before applying. |
