Field of Study:Business/Commerce, General
Description:General Business Studies allows you to customize your degree to fit your unique interests, while maintaining a focus on the world of business. With a major in General Business Studies you will learn areas such as accounting, marketing, economics, and finance to help you gain a wide range of basic business skills. The skills and attributes you will develop through General Business Studies include communication, information literacy, critical thinking, teamwork, ethics, and social responsibility.

Co-op allows students to gain practical experience, apply their academic studies to real-world situations, and explore potential career paths. Increasingly, employers are using co-op placements as recruiting techniques and many students find employment as a result of their co-op placement. An official co-op designation on the transcript requires satisfactory completion of three 13- to 16-week work terms, only one of which will be in the summer. However, by attending summer school, students can complete the Bachelor of Commerce requirements and the co-op requirements with only four additional months of study.
