Description:The Vancouver Island University Electrical Department provides both entry-level and apprenticeship training. Entry-level training prepares graduates for employment in the electrical trade where the electrical worker plans, assembles, installs, tests, repairs and maintains electrical equipment and systems in commercial, industrial and marine facilities.

Graduates of this program may receive credit towards the technical portion of the first year of the Electrical Apprenticeship program. In order to complete the apprenticeship and become a journeyperson, graduates would find an employer in the industry to provide the on-the-job training and 10 weeks per year in each of the next three years.

  •  Grade11 Principles of Mathematics  or  Grade11 Foundations for College Mathematics (MAP4C)  or  Grade11 Applied Mathematics  or  Grade11 Precalculus 

- Minimum 17 years of age - Resume and/or letter of intent and/or references may be required. - Interview may be required. - Math and/or reading and/or trades aptitude test may be required. - Physically fit and able to adapt to working conditions. - Good hand/eye coordination. - Good health, free of vision, hearing or respiratory ailments. - Valid driver’s license will be required for vehicle and equipment operation.
