Description:This one-year Ontario College Certificate program is intended for students who are interested in exploring a career in design through the preparation of a competitive portfolio. Students develop their creative design and drawing skills allowing them to pursue more advanced studies in related programs including but not limited to Graphic Design, Interior Decorating, Bachelor of Applied Arts (BBA)-Interior Design, Advertising, Architectural Technician/Technology, Industrial Design etc.

Eligible students who complete the certificate program with a GPA of 3.0 or better are eligible for Articulation Agreements. All articulation agreements to postsecondary institutions can be found at: http://www.algonquincollege.com/degree-pathways/list/. Graduates are eligible to receive an Ontario College Certificate in General Arts and Science - One year, with a concentration in Design Studies. They can then use their portfolio to apply to another design related program at the diploma or degree level.

  •  Grade12 English 

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent. Applicants with an OSSD showing senior English and/or Mathematics courses at the Basic Level, or with Workplace or Open courses, will be tested to determine their eligibility for admission; OR Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) certificate; OR General Educational Development (GED) certificate; OR Mature Student status (19 years of age or older and without a high school diploma at the start of the program). Eligibility may be determined by academic achievement testing for which a fee of $50 (subject to change) will be charged.
