Under the supervision of a certified journeyperson, an apprentice receives knowledge and develops skills associated with a designated trade through on the job training.

The skills students will learn on the job are supplemented with a required number of weeks each year of technical training. Upon successfully completing an apprenticeship program, students are eligible to write an examination to become certified in the trade.
