Description:

Currently, policing agencies in Canada have expressed concern regarding an aging police force. Current enforcement staff are accepting early retirement packages together with a number of current members who will require replacement by natural attrition. In order to maintain current levels of staffing, the hiring will be fairly aggressive. The OPP alone estimate recruiting over 250 candidates each year for the next five years.

The graduate is trained to pursue a career in the various policing agencies across Canada (municipal police, provincial police, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, military police, transportation police, private police, university police). Alternative career paths would include customs and immigration, private investigations, custody and correctional officers, agency officers for federal and provincial government enforcing legislation, wardens, security officers, parking enforcement, parks and game wardens, court services, 911 operators, and loss prevention control. Throughout the program, students will participate in the community with activities, which could include assisting the local police services, ride-alongs, volunteer security at special events, and will also participate in a number of guest speaker series. Throughout the duration of the program, students are expected to be in "full uniform".
