Description:Explore the modern applications of bio-molecular research in anthropology, chemistry, biology, and physics as a student of Applied Life Sciences. This interdisciplinary program focuses on the study of living organisms at the bio-molecular or cellular level, and the human manipulation of molecular biological processes, with hands-on learning through laboratory courses, research opportunities, and internships.

You will acquire skills in cutting-edge molecular biology, biotechnology, and diagnostic methods in our world-renowned labs including the Paleo DNA Laboratory.

Completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent. A minimum of 6 Grade 12 U or M courses, or equivalent, including program specific prerequisite courses with a minimum 70% overall average.1 credit each in Gr. 12 U English and Gr. 12 U Advanced Functions; 2 credits from: Gr. 12 U Chemistry, Gr. 12 U Biology, Gr. 12 U Physics, Gr. 12 U Earth & Space Science, Gr. 12 U Calculus & Vectors, Gr. 12 U Math of Data Management; 2 additional Gr. 12 U or M credits. A minimum 70% overall final average. Admission averages are calculated using the top 6 Grade 12 U or M courses.

Test Scores:
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 550] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 80] or Michigan English Language Assessment Battery [min. 85] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Computer Based) [min. 213] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5]

Applicants whose first language is not English will need to satisfy Lakehead University’s English language proficiency requirements. Applicants can complete one of the following recognized language tests with the required minimum scores: TOEFL PBT-550, CBT-213, or iBT-80; IELTS-6.5; MELAB-85; CAEL-60.
