|Description:||The Masters in Archaeology provides graduate students with the advanced theoretical and methodological tools they need for independent research and future employment in cultural resource management and other heritage-related industries. Students appreciate the collegial environment of the department and opportunities for practical experience in both field and lab.
Thanks to the varied research interests of our faculty, graduate students can be supervised in thesis research in Bioarchaeology, Historical Archaeology, Geoarchaeology, Zooarchaeology and Computer Applications amongst others. Our geographic emphasis is on the Plains and Boreal forest region, giving a strong sense of place to student study and making our program distinctive amongst western Canadian universities archaeology programs.

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Honours or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Honours or, equivalent degree in archaeology or anthropology
Students with Honours degrees in other disciplines are encouraged to apply, but they will be required to do qualifying course work
Substantial course work in the area of declared research interest
A course in archaeological method and theory
Applicants are strongly encouraged to identify the topic area in which they wish to do their thesis research so that a thesis supervisor can be assigned when the applicant is accepted
