Connect your passion for supporting children and youth with in the Education Assistant (EA) Certificate program at Capilano University.

This 16-month, part-time ? evenings and weekends ? program will begin in September and will give you the theory and practical strategies to help children and adolescents in the school system.

Education Assistants support students in K ? 12 who present with a wide range of abilities.


These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    High school graduation. English Studies 12 or English 12 or English First Peoples 12. Pre-Calculus 11 or Foundations of Math 11 (FOM11) or Apprenticeship and Workplace Math 11 (AWM11) or Principles of Math 11 (MA11) or Applications of Math 11 (AMA11) or Algebra 11 or Accounting 11.
    Application Notes : Capilano English Language Requirement for students whose primary language is not English or have received education in a language other than English: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): paper=560, internet=83, or English Language Assessment (ELA)=145, or International English Language Testing System (Academic IELTS)=6.5 overall, and no one score less than 6, or Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL)=70, or Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic)=56 or Capilano University EAP 100 and 101 with a minimum B+ grade in each course.
    Additional Admission Requirements:

      Applicants are required to attend an information session and will be assessed on the basis of an interview with faculty, past academic experience and relevant experience working with children and adolescents.

      Current Grade 12 students can be conditionally accepted based on final Grade 11 grades or interim Grade 12 grades. Students can upload proof of grades (e.g. unofficial transcripts, copies of report cards) through EducationPlannerBC when applying to Capilano University. Final acceptance will be based on high school graduation and having met the program specific requirements.
