Humber’s Fitness and Health Promotion diploma program places you at the leading edge of the healthy revolution as you learn from expert, industry-connected faculty. Skills learned go far beyond the fundamentals of exercise to include anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, business administration and marketing, nutrition, injury management, special event planning, and more.



You will combine classroom theory with hands-on training and real-world experience in our unique Humber Centre for Healthy Living for a comprehensive foundation in fitness that includes working with personal training clients and preparing to earn nationally and internationally recognized certifications. You will apply what you have learned by participating in one of the program’s annual special events promoting healthy living, organized and executed by students. Admission Requirements

Prerequisites:*

  •  Grade12 Mathematics 
  •   Biology  or   Chemistry 

To be eligible for admission, you must possess the following:

- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent including these required courses:

- Grade 12 English (ENG4C or ENG4U or equivalent)

- Grade 12 Mathematics (MAP4C, MCT4C, MDM4U, MCB4U, MGA4U, MCV4U or MHF4U) or Grade 11 C, M or U Mathematics (MBF3C, MCF3M or MCR3U)

- Grade 11 or Grade 12 Biology (SBI3C, SBI3U or SBI4U) or Grade 12 Chemistry (SCH4C or SCH4U) or Grade 12 Exercise Science (PSE4U) or Grade 12 Introductory Kinesiology (PSK4U) or equivalent

- One Grade 11 or Grade 12 C, M or U course in addition to those listed above or

Mature student status

or

College or university transfer status

Test Scores:
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 550] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 80] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.0] or Michigan English Language Assessment Battery [min. 76]
Additional Admission Requirements:

    Upon acceptance to the program, students must demonstrate a personal commitment to physical activity and healthy living and possess the ability to fully participate in practical-based physical activity courses: resistance training, group exercise classes, cardiovascular training, plyometrics and flexibility training. Prospective students with special needs or limitations are encouraged to discuss their career goals with the program co-ordinator before applying.
