Description:

The Theatre Arts – Performance advanced diploma program will help turn your dream of becoming a professional actor into a reality. We’ll guide you through rigorous training in the fundamentals, practicalities, traditions and professionalism you need to become a versatile performer who’s ready to step into the spotlight in theatre, TV or film.

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.

    Applicants must have

    • An Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent*
    • Grade 12 English (C or U) – a Grade of 60% or higher is required.\
    • Interview
    • Audition – entrance into this program is based on an in-person audition and/or interview**

    Test Scores:
    • International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.0] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 550] or Canadian Academic English Language Assessment [min. 60] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 80] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Computer Based) [min. 213]
    Additional Admission Requirements:
    • Auditions

    * Mature Student status (19 years of age or older and no OSSD)

    Mature students may take the Admissions Assessment for English OR may consider upgrading to achieve the credit(s) needed in English.


    **AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

    Applicants are to present two contrasting monologues and one song. Both the monologues and the song must be memorized.

    Monologues
    • Two contrasting monologues: one chosen from the classical repertoire (i.e., 1575–1700), the other contemporary (i.e., after 1900).
    • The monologues MUST be from published plays (stories, poetry, movies, TV or self-written material are not acceptable).
    • Monologues must not exceed one and a half minutes each.
    • The monologues should be of a contrasting nature to show two different sides of your personality.
    Song
    • The song can be from any repertoire.
    • You will be singing without accompaniment.
