Description:This intensive program was developed to meet industry demand for graphic designers and art directors with solid visual, strategic, conceptual, typographic, and computer skills. Classes focus on these areas of study and emphasize important life skills such as problem solving, teamwork, and relationship building.

You will explore the many facets of visual communication, including colour theory, conceptual process, typography, corporate design, marketing strategies, interactive media, and digital design through use of current tools meeting industry standards. Students will have the unique opportunity to apply these skills in Humber's real-world ad agency/design studio. The first year of this program is shared with the three-year Graphic Design advanced diploma.

  •  Grade12 English 

• Grade 12 English (ENG4C or ENG4U). If English is not your first language, refer to the English Language Proficiency Policy in this publication • Three Grade 11 or Grade 12 C, U or M courses in addition to those listed above • Applicants who do not possess the required courses may complete admission testing to determine equivalencies. Invitation and booking of admission testing is done using the email address provided on the online application • A good working knowledge of various computer applications

Test Scores:
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 550] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Computer Based) [min. 213] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 80] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6] or Michigan English Language Assessment Battery [min. 76]

• Attendance at an information/interview session, which includes: – presenting a portfolio of 12–15 pieces of art design – presenting a recent sketchbook showing rough work, drawing and process work – composing a letter describing why you chose this field • Applicants will be assessed on overall creativity, ability in drawing, sense of design, creative process (roughs and preliminary drawings), craftsmanship, and comfort level with computer technology
