The foundations of the programme include electromagnetics, signal processing, and semiconductor fabrication. These advanced fundamentals underpin everything that follows, whether you go on to specialise in subjects like chip design, microwave systems, or integrated circuits. A distinctive feature of the first year is hands-on work with semiconductors. You will have the chance to work in teams in a cleanroom facility, to analyse and develop fabrication processes for semiconductor devices. You will engage with the full spectrum, from laboratory work through to the economic, ethical, and geopolitical dimensions of semiconductor manufacturing. This reflects the real context in which chip technology now sits, with strategic significance on a global level, extending well beyond the lab. |
