Description:

The program aims at qualified graduates who will be ready to be actively involved in the actual restoration and conservation of historic buildings and sites. The academic objectives of the program involve high-level graduate teaching and practical application of the knowledge gained by students in case studies; this will guarantee the holistic and interdisciplinary approach of the restoration and conservation of historic buildings and sites by the program graduates. At the same time, the program aims at advancing and enhancing current research in the fields of restoration and conservation.

The graduates of the MSc in Conservation and Restoration of Historic Buildings and Sites are expected to be employed in relevant specialised jobs in the public and private sector, both in Cyprus and abroad. Furthermore, they will be able to provide consulting services in big conservation and restoration projects.  

Prerequisites:

    The number of places available are announced by the Graduate School with the eligibility criteria for candidates, as well as other required documents that must be attached to the application such as:

    • Bachelor’s degree from a recognised University.
    • Previous University education in a suitable subject (academic background) and grades of relevant degrees.
    • Letters of recommendation.
    • Personal interview and/or written examination (if provided by the Department’s internal rules).
    • Submission of preliminary research proposal for admission to a doctoral course (if provided by the Department’s internal rules).


    The Department may also set additional criteria and quality indicators such as:

    (a) number of students’ publications in scientific journals,

    (b) students’ participation in seminars, symposia, research programmes,

    (c) presentations by students at conferences,

    (d) knowledge of foreign languages, and

    (e) professional experience, etc.

    Additional Admission Criteria for a Postgraduate Programme are:

    • Other criteria that may be adopted by each department individually.
