The Certificate in the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology is administered by the Department of Classics. This certificate program explores human understanding of and interaction with the natural world. The time frame reaches from the European Bronze Age to the present. This approach combines the methods and subjects of several disciplines, demonstrates our indebtedness to the thinkers and makers of the past, and also illustrates the far-reaching effects of human activities on the natural world and on present and future societies. The foundation course in the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology is intended to integrate the material and provide a common focus at the beginning of the program. |
