The first 16 months of this program is the premedical program. The premedical program is a non-degree granting, four semester program. The first three semesters can be completed online (can be completed from home country), and the final semester is completed at our campus in Aruba. For the students that successfully complete the premedical program, they would gain automatic admission into our MD program which is commenced at our campus in Aruba.The premedical program incorporates the basic undergraduate courses that are the prerequisite courses required for the MD program. The premedical curriculum is designed to give high school graduates, or students who have not fully met the requirements for the 4 year MD program a firm foundation of the sciences to help prepare them for the 4 year MD program.
After the premedical program the students enter our 4 year MD Program. The first two years of the 4 Year MD program consists of in-class preclinical studies at our campus in Aruba. The final semester of year 2 is the "board preparatory" semester that will prepare students for the USMLE Step 1. Upon passing the USMLE Step 1, students will begin their clinical rotations. After completing their preclinical studies and passing the USMLE Step 1 exam, the students will complete 2 years of clinical rotations in hospitals and clinics in the USA under the supervision of our faculty physicians. During their clinical rotations, the student will sit for their USMLE Step 2 exam. After successful completion of the full 5 year MD program the student will be conferred a MD by Aureus University School of Medicine, Aruba. |
