Reconnect with the career you’re passionate about. Our two-year International Dentist Degree Program (IDDP) is specially designed for dentists who are graduates of a minimum four-year university dental degree program, not recognized by the Commission of Dental Accreditation in Canada.

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.

    The International Dentist Degree Program is an advanced entry program. Applicants must submit their application under Track A or Track B.


    Track A:

    To qualify for admission to the International Dentist Degree Program (IDDP), you must:

    • Hold a four-year university dental degree from a program not recognized by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada.
    • Not participate in the Assessment of Clinical Skills and/or Assessment of Clinical Judgement examinations through the National Dental Examining Board of Canada (NDEB) in the year of your application.

    Important changes for the 2025 admission cycle

    These changes will take effect when the 2025 admission cycle opens in November 2023:

    Required admissions test
    • All Track A candidates must complete the Advanced Dental Admission Test (ADAT) for admission to the IDDP. You must write the ADAT no later than March 1 in the year of your application.
    • The NDEB’s Assessment of Fundamental Knowledge (AFK) exam will no longer be accepted.

    Track B (Temporarily suspended):

    To qualify for admission to the International Dentist Degree Program (IDDP), you must:

    • Hold a four-year university dental degree from a program not recognized by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada.
    • Pass required examinations:
    • Write and pass the Assessment of Fundamental Knowledge.
    • Write and pass the Assessment of Clinical Judgment (ACJ) examinations, sponsored by the National Dental Examining Board of Canada (NDEB), within three years prior to the Track B application deadline.
    • Take the National Dental Examination of Clinical Competence (NDECC):
    • In the year of your application, you must take the NDECC examination before the Track B application deadline.
    • The ACS/NDECC must be completed by December of the calendar year prior to your application.
    Test Scores:
    • International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) or Canadian Academic English Language Assessment or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) or Pearson Test of English (Academic)
    Additional Admission Requirements:
