Description:

The Masters of Art is a two-year research degree where students conduct an independent Major Research Project (MRP) as the milestone component of the program, under the general direction of a supervisory committee consisting of a principal supervisor and second reader. Projects are defined as a body of work similar to a thesis in quality, scope and/or degree of originality. In particular, the MA program requires MRP projects of research-creation, an approach to research that combines creative and academic research practices, and supports the development of knowledge and innovation through artistic expression, scholarly investigation, and experimentation. The creation process is situated within the research activity and produces critically informed work in a variety of media and art forms. The project must be documented with a report that details and contextualizes it, and be presented in public. The form of the presentation could include an exhibition, screening, performance, or other public display of resultant creation.
