Description:

Visual methods are becoming an increasingly popular option in psychology and the social sciences and this course will further develop your skills in collecting, analysing and editing visual and arts-based data in research. Build on your own interests, networks and communities while you apply your artistic and visual skills to an independent research project.

This MRes is ideal for those wanting to develop their ability in visual and creative research methods and apply these skills to their area of interest. You will become part of our thriving creative community and take part in the visual and creative projects in the department as well as showcase your own work at internal and external events.

  • International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5]
Application Notes : You must have competence in English language to study with us. The most commonly accepted evidence of English language ability is IELTS 6.5 (with minimum 6.0 in all components). We also normally require Grade C GCSE or an equivalent qualification.

We normally require a second class honours degree 2:2 or above in any discipline.


Entry is subject to the proposed project being accepted.

Prior experience with visual and arts-based methods is welcome but not required. Students with less experience, or who wish to do so, will be able to attend lectures and other learning activities from the course Visual Research Methods.

Successful applicants may enrol to begin their studies at the start of any of the three terms during the academic year.
