Description:

The Norwich Bioscience Institutes are a collection of world-leading research institutes that explore a diverse range of fundamental and strategic biological sciences in a multi- and inter-disciplinary research environment. The institutes are: - the John Innes Centre - the Quadram Institute Bioscience - the Earlham Institute - The Sainsbury Laboratory The global challenges of the 21st century are enormous and advances in the biosciences, including plant science, computational biology, microbiology, biological chemistry, harnessing food for health and controlling food-related diseases, offer real opportunities to address these.

- Evolutionary biology and population genomics

- Food, nutrition and health

- Food safety: microbes in the food chain and food authenticity

- Genomics, computational and systems biology

- Gut biology, health, and microbiome

- Molecular microbiology and metagenomics of complex microbial communities

- Plant and crop growth, development and yield

- Plant and microbial metabolism and biological chemistry

- Plant bioactives and foods for health

- Plant pathogens and innate immunity

- Synthetic biology and biotechnology

Additional Admission Requirements:
    The minimum academic requirement for entry to a doctoral degree is a UK upper second class undergraduate honours degree and a Master's degree, or equivalent.
