Description:

As a student in the online doctorate in education leadership, you’ll learn how to implement positive and lasting change in the classroom and across whole institutions. With an emphasis on evaluating your own work as an educator, ASU’s goal is to create scholarly and influential practitioners. Overall, this program gives you the tools to identify areas in need of change to support student success.

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
    Applicants must currently hold a position related to education that will allow them to implement change in their workplace.

    All applicants must show proof of a completed master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
    Applicants must have a minimum of a 3.00 cumulative GPA in the last 60 hours of their bachelor's program. Additionally, applicants must have a minimum of a 3.00 cumulative GPA in an applicable master’s degree program.


    All applicants must submit:
  • Graduate admission application and application fee.
  • Official transcripts.
  • Letters of recommendation.
  • Personal statement.
  • Up-to-date curriculum vitae or resume.
  • An academic writing sample.
  • Additional Admission Requirements:
    • The online program admits students two times a year in the spring and fall semesters.
    • Resume: Information in a curriculum vitae or resume should list your educational background, work and other professional experiences you find relevant. Current employer, location and dates of employment as well as your official job title and responsibilities must be provided.
    • Letters of Recommendation: In the letters of recommendation, applicants must supply the names, email addresses and organizational affiliations of three recommenders. It is strongly recommended that one letter is from someone who can attest to your academic ability, one from a past or current supervisor, and one from a person of your choosing who can speak to qualities that will contribute to your success in the program.
    • Personal Statements: Personal statements should be approximately three pages in length and include professional experiences, motivation for studies, description of a problem that you might address as part of your action research project and finally how you see this program helping you answer your selected problem and achieve your personal and professional goals.
    • Writing Sample: All applicants must submit an academic writing sample that is written by the applicant and cites research literature. The sample should be no shorter than five double-spaced pages with 1” margins and 12-point font. You must accurately cite literature and references in APA 7th edition. Examples of appropriate writing samples include:
    • Literature review from a master’s thesis or project.
    • Paper from a master’s degree or other course.
    • .An applicant whose native language is not English (regardless of current residency) must provide proof of English proficiency.
