It takes emotional maturity, good people skills and a strong sense of self to become a mental health & wellness counsellor. In the first year of studies students will learn and apply Indigenous and Western-based holistic approaches to healing and addictions counselling. Students will focus on internal self growth that will enable the student to grow holistically and become familiar with the role of a mental health counsellor. An instructor with real world experience will provide training in: Interpersonal communication, Youth care, Indigenous healing, Therapy for families, Recovery models, and Modern technologies.

Students must complete Northlands College application and submit: a letter explaining why you want to take this program and your career goals; a transcript of your most recent high school marks and all applicable post-secondary transcripts (originals not required); and a current resume.
