Farm workers plant, cultivate and harvest crops, raise livestock and poultry and maintain and repair farm equipment and buildings. This group includes operators of farm machinery.

You need no specific education or training. However, you may obtain college certificates or specialized courses related to farming, such as farm equipment mechanics, agricultural welding, tree pruning, and pesticide application.

You may benefit from previous farm experience, maybe on a family farm.

With experience, you may move up the ranks to become a supervisor.

Most recent entrants have a high school diploma, and almost 1 in 5 has a trade/vocational certificate or community college diploma.
