They propose improvements to methods, systems, and procedures in areas such as operations, human resources, records management, and communications. They may plan the reorganization of operations. They may conduct quality audits and develop quality management / assurance standards for ISO (International Organization for Standardization) registration.

You usually need a bachelor's degree or college diploma in business administration or commerce. You may need a graduate degree in business administration. To be a management consultant, you may need certification by a management consulting association in the province / territory where you'll work. With experience, you may move up the ranks to become a manager or senior manager. Many recent entrants have an undergraduate university degree, and almost 1 in 5 has a graduate degree.
