Profile

Two long standing colleges in British Columbia's Lower Mainland, Pacific Bible College and LIFE Bible College of Canada, have come together to form Pacific Life Bible College (PLBC). In 1997, these two colleges, with a common purpose and complementary strengths, joined forces. Together we provide a strong central campus in Surrey with extension programs that reach around the world. We are an interdenominational college affiliated with a denominational network of ministry opportunities. Today, PLBC is growing and expanding to continue its cause of "training leaders to make a world of difference”.

Areas of Expertise

Pacific Life Bible College offers programs that prepare students for future ministry opportunities (Youth, Music, Pastoral Leadership, Missions, C.E., and more).

Career Planning

Pacific Life Bible College has a career-posting page on their Web site. Students are welcome to explore the various ministry positions available.

Sports

The campus sports facilities include a gymnasium for basketball, floor hockey, and volleyball, and a playing field for soccer and softball. Nearby are excellent facilities for golf, tennis, swimming, hockey, or any other sport you can imagine. The mild climate and four season splendour of the Pacific Coast is world renowned for year-round recreation. Only in southwest British Columbia can you ski Whistler's powdered moguls, white water raft down the mighty Fraser River, jog between the awesome cedars and the seawall of Stanley Park, windsurf off Spanish Banks, or just soak up the summer sunshine on the beaches of Kitsilano, all within a few months and a few minutes drive from each other. A local YMCA offers student rates and boasts new exercise facilities, rooftop track, pool, hot tub, and gymnasiums.

Activities

Every September, students and staff gather at a retreat destination for a weekend getaway. These events are important times in establishing a sense of community and a foundation for building individual relationships. Every weekday morning before class begins, students can begin their day in worship led by their peers. At the beginning of every semester, each student will be requested to find an upward mentor. The task of the mentor is to work with you in clarifying goals in the areas of academics, character development, and ministry involvement. The student is responsible for scheduling regular meeting times with his or her mentor.

Information Technology

There are computers available for student use in the library. Students who wish to use them must store personal work on their own disk or USB drive. Access to the Internet is available for students to check their e-mail and to conduct research for assignments only. Journals, periodicals, and bible software can be found on some of our computers. Ask the librarian to show you which ones and how to use the full text search for journals.

Cultural

Spiritual life is not complete without the deepening of relationships in the body of Christ. Students are required to attend and participate in the life of a local church. It is each student's responsibility to maintain a vital personal devotional life consisting of regular time of prayer and bible study (apart from course assignments).

Affiliated Institutions

Pacific Life Bible College is authorized by an act of the British Columbia Legislature to grant recognized theological degrees and is a member of the Canadian Higher Education Association. We are a member of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, “dedicated unto the cause of interdenominational and world wide evangelism”. Our network extends to more than 100 Foursquare colleges and institutes around the world.
