Description:

The Art History stream of study promotes both the history of art, architecture and visual culture from the Medieval to the Contemporary periods and examines the development of art historical methodologies and critical theories of the discipline. The expertise offered by this stream includes Medieval art & architecture, Renaissance, Baroque and Modern (18th, 19th and 20th centuries) art history, contemporary visual culture, new media, and East Asian art history.

Students are encouraged to apply for this program after their first year of study at the University and after completion of no less than 12 credits in Art History. Admission is on a competitive basis. While the Faculty of Arts regulations require a minimum CGPA of 3.0 for Honours programs, the Department requires in addition a program GPA of 3.30 for admission into the program and the awarding of Honours.
