Why choose the Certificate in Science and Technology?

This is a non-degree program that caters to students who wish to prepare for admission to a degree program in engineering or computer science. It is not intended for students who wish to prepare for admission towards a science program.

Program option

Certificate in Science and Technology (30 credits)
The certificate requires the successful completion of 30 credits. The grade in each course must be C- or better for the course to count towards the certificate. A GPA of 2.00 must be maintained to remain in the certificate program.

Admission criteria

Minimum cut-off averages and course requirements for admission

Quebec CEGEP: 22 overall, 22 math*, 22 science
- Additional information for CEGEP applicants
High School: C+ overall, B- math, B- physics
- ACT or SAT is NOT required
- Canadian curricula course requirements
- Accepted international qualifications
International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma: 26 overall, 4 HL or SL math, 4 HL or SL physics
- Math or physics course must be HL
Baccalauréat français: 11 overall, 12 math, 12 physics
- Première: Mathématiques Spécialité
British system of education (GCE):
- A-levels: At least two A-level exams CD, CD in math, CD in science or
- AS-levels: At least 4 AS-level exams with equivalent results or
- BTEC: Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in a related subject area with equivalent results
- Students without a math A-level may be admissible based on AS-level or iGCSE/GCSE/O-Level exam results. Students should include all their exam results from iGCSE (or equivalent) onwards to support their application.
- Additional information for British System of Education (GCE) applicants
University Transfers (internal/external): C+ overall, B- math, B- phys.

Course requirements for admission

In some cases, an offer of admission may be offered if a Physics grade is not available.

CEGEP students: Math 536 or TS/SN 5
*Applicants who complete the prerequisite mathematics courses must have a minimum CRC of 22 for admission.

Additional requirements for admission

Independent Students wishing to enter the Certificate program must be in good standing.

Students may transfer up to 12 credits into the Certificate program. The credits that may be so transferred are determined by the University at the point of entry into the program.

Programs for individual students can be designed in consultation with an academic advisor at Student Academic Services.

Minimum cut-off averages should be used as indicators. The cut-off data may change depending on the applicant pool. Applicants who meet the stated minimum requirements are not guaranteed admission to these programs.

March 1 is the deadline to apply for fall term entry. International students are encouraged to apply by February 1 to allow sufficient time for CAQ and study permit application processing.

WINTER

November 1 is the deadline to apply for winter term entry. International students are encouraged to apply by September 1 to allow sufficient time for CAQ and study permit application processing.

Not all programs are available for winter term entry. Please check program availability for the term, before you start your application.
