As a Human Resources (HR) Professional in the private, public or not-for-profit sector, you support, plan and execute your organization’s HR initiatives from a strategic and tactical perspective.

Niagara College  has been granted a consent by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities to offer this applied degree for a 7-year term commencing April 26, 2022. Niagara will ensure that all students admitted to the Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (Human Resources) program during the period of consent will have the opportunity to complete the program within a reasonable time frame. Prospective students are responsible for satisfying themselves that the program and the degree will be appropriate to their needs (e.g. acceptable to potential employers, professional licensing bodies, or other educational institutions).

Program Outcomes Term: 1244
  1. Analyze the interdependence of various functional areas of business (i.e. financial, marketing, operations, human resources) to achieve organizational success in domestic and international environments.

  2. Integrate business methodologies that assess costs, benefits, risks, and opportunities, utilizing current and emerging technology and trends,l to develop strategies that will achieve organizational goals.

  3. Incorporate external variables into various business decision models to maximize business opportunities.

  4. Integrate foundational business elements and project management principles in the development, implementation, and evaluation of projects, business plans, and strategies.

  5. Differentiate the unique business needs of small to medium versus large organizations.

  6. Apply professional, ethical, and legal codes of conduct.

  7. Research, analyze, and critically evaluate qualitative and quantitative data from a variety of sources to support business decisions from a perspective of innovation.

  15. Develop mechanisms, including policies, procedures, and programs, to foster positive employee relations, to mediate disputes/grievances in unionized and non-unionized environments, and negotiate collective agreements.

  16. Evaluate Human Resources plans to ensure alignment with organizational goals and responsiveness to current and future labour market conditions

  17. Manage training and organizational development and change initiatives including workforce design, development, and employee engagement initiatives, to support organizational effectiveness.

  18. Establish and manage systems and processes to collect and safeguard Human Resources information.

Admission Requirements

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent including the following required course(s):
  • English – Grade 12 (U), or equivalent, minimum 60%
  • Mathematics – any Grade 12 (U) or Accounting – Grade 12 (M), or equivalent (minimum 60%)
  • Four additional Grade 12 (M) or (U) level courses in any field of study
  • An overall average of 65% in the six required Grade 12 (U) or (M) courses
Recommended Courses and/or Skills:

These courses and skills may help you succeed academically in this program, but they are not required for admission.

Selection and Ranking

Final applicant selection will be based on academic performance in required courses. Mid-term grades are not used for ranking purposes. Testing or other supplemental evaluation may be required.

Program Requirements
Transportation
  • Students are responsible for their own transportation in order to complete program requirements which may not be readily accessible by public transportation.
  • Program requirements could include co-ops, placements, volunteer requirements, practical labs, field projects, assignments, clinicals, or any other off-campus visits required as part of the program’s curriculum.
Computer/Technology Requirements

Students are responsible for ensuring that they have a Microsoft Windows 10 based desktop or laptop system that meets or exceeds the following general personal computer technology requirements:

  • A desktop or laptop system running on an updated Microsoft Windows 10 operating system.
  • Minimum 256GB SSD storage and 8 GB memory.
  • An integrated or peripheral video camera, microphone and speaker system.
  • Reliable internet connectivity with Broadband capabilities (a minimum download speed of 5 Mbps) is recommended.

Niagara College will not be able to provide support for systems different than the above specifications. Any provided software may not operate properly. Academic software for your courses (supported under the Microsoft Windows 10 operating system) will be made available for download and remote use. Access will also be provided to remote high performance computer labs if software downloads are not feasible.
