This specialized program will teach you the skills and techniques needed to help athletes or sports teams reach their maximum physical potential. Strength and sport conditioning is athletic training aimed at greater strength, power, speed, agility, coordination and balance. You will learn general exercise principles, speed development, and sport-specific science, along with practical  training in weightlifting, agility, plyometrics, and sprint training for athletes.

Dual Diploma Option! Canadore graduates of this program are eligible to complete the Recreation and Leisure Services or Recreation Therapy program in one year.

Ontario College Diploma

This program prepares students for many field-specific certifications. Our courses provide important foundational knowledge necessary for personal training certifications with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), Canadian Fitness Professionals (canfitpro), International Sport Sciences Association, National Council on Strength and Fitness, American Council of Exercise (ACE), and American College of Sports Medicine. Additionally, National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Weightlifting Competition Introduction Coach Certification, NCCP Special Olympics Coach Certification, High Five, and Inclusive Sport certifications have typically been offered to interested students.

Learning outcomes represent culminating demonstrations of learning and achievement. In addition, learning outcomes are interrelated and cannot be viewed in isolation of one another. As such, they should be viewed as a comprehensive whole. They describe performances that demonstrate that significant integrated learning by graduates of the program has been achieved.
