Jewish Studies


Overview

The Jewish Studies program offers an interdisciplinary approach to the study of Judaica. You can choose from concentrations in Jewish Thought, History, Biblical Studies and Literature. You may also opt to take elementary, intermediate and advanced courses in Jewish languages (Hebrew, Yiddish, and Aramaic). 

A Minor is offered for those who wish to add competence in Jewish Studies to their major field of study. If you choose to join the Major or Honours program, you will have the opportunity to take part in advanced seminars and tutorials for students contemplating careers in the various fields of Judaica. No matter which program you choose, a Jewish Studies background from McGill will allow you to gain both academic knowledge and cultural insight.

A Jewish Studies background will allow you to improve upon universally applicable skills like reading, writing, analysis. You can develop your interests within the field to forge a path for future study in Jewish studies. You may wish to apply your knowledge to community, spiritual or cross-cultural work.
