Program Intro

What does music tell us about the nature and character of God?

Be captivated by music as you cultivate your talent and develop your skills. Music plays an important role in our worship and service to God and his church. Redeemer's Music Performance program provides the biblical, historical, and theoretical context of music through composition, performance, theory, and history under the guidance of experienced, practicing musicians.

Music Performance is a Bachelor of Arts degree program. It is offered as a major and as a minor.

Right from the start, your classes and dedicated faculty help you build a strong foundation in theory and aural skills. Opportunities for group discussion, in-class practice, and access to space and instruments help you gain confidence and deepen your appreciation for music.

Between applied music lessons, ensemble, performance, written compositions, and classroom lectures, you are putting everything you're learning into practice.

Music Performance The Core

The Core Curriculum is a set of 10 courses that every student takes. The courses are woven through every major and get you to think deeply and broadly about what you’re studying. Think about it this way…

  • Worship leaders have a deeper sense of beauty when they ground themselves in the narrative of Scripture.
  • Musicians who understand marketing trends and are effective collaborators are more successful in their business ventures.
  • Composers can communicate with poignancy when they understand the psyche of their audience.

Beyond Campus

The Redeemer Concert Choir is an auditioned ensemble of 35-40 singers from various majors who perform a repertoire spanning five centuries of choral music treasures. The choir periocally does tours throughout Canada and the United States.
