What is the role of a chemist in a world that God created?
The study of chemistry is so much more than just understanding the nature of matter; it also includes creating new forms of matter that have never existed before. Redeemer's Chemistry program equips students to work in the field of chemistry, preparing them to express their God-given creativity in unfolding and developing the potential that lies within God's creation.
Chemistry is a Bachelor of Science degree. It is offered as a major and as a minor.

Right from the start, small class sizes allow for meaningful class discussion, led by professors who are actively researching in the field and excited to include students in their work.
First-year courses provide foundational skills and knowledge in multiple science disciplines, giving you an interdisciplinary understanding of the topics that you'll dig into later on in your studies. Many classes, already in your first year, include a lab component where you'll participate in real-world experiments and use professional-grade equipment.

In your classes, you will focus on developing critical thinking, analytical, and scientific writing skills in courses like Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Biochemistry II: Enzymes and Metabolism. Small classes taught by dedicated professors who are experts in their field mean you will conduct and critically assess research as you review the methods, concepts and findings of chemistry researchers and experiments.
Since 2012, Dr. Darren Brouwer has sampled and analyzed water in the Chedoke Creek watershed with students in his analytical chemistry course. Dr. Brouwer and Dr. Edward Berkelaar work alongside students as they use the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and infrared (IR) spectrometers to spark chemical reactions and seamlessly explore the resulting chemical structures in the recently updated chemistry lab.
The Creation Care Studies Program offers you the chance to study for a term in either Belize or New Zealand to study God’s creation and human impact on the environment.
