The School of Mathematics and Statistics offers a PhD program that focuses on diverse areas including statistics, probability, discrete mathematics, applied mathematics, algebra and analysis, cryptography research for government, networks, coding theory and fluid dynamics.

The School is a member of the Ottawa-Carleton Institute for Mathematics and Statistics (OCIMS), which offers one of the largest graduate programs in mathematics and statistics in Canada.
