Sociology

Have you ever wondered how the society you live in handles immigration, poverty or injustice? Are you interested in the many ways populations interact and how society and culture shapes their lives?

When you choose to study Sociology, you are opening the door to a fascinating experience that will inform how you see the world for the rest of your life. Discover how social inequalities influence policies, analyze the relationship between advertising and popular culture or learn about crime and deviance – in our Sociology program, you decide! Under the guidance of your academically renowned professors, you will enhance your leadership, cultural literacy and project management skills through a variety of dynamic courses, including: Sociology of Mental Health, Youth in Conflict with the Law and Gender and Society.

Did you know your Sociology experience extends far beyond the classroom? You will have the opportunity to gain real-world experience with one of our community partners in a course placement. Or, take your interest in sociology abroad by studying at one of our partner schools in Ireland, The Netherlands, South Korea or Barbados. With these experiences, the Sociology program will leverage your academic experience and networking skills on a global scale.

“I was always intrigued by the human mind and behaviour, but I felt I was missing the portion of how these individuals fit into society. Once I started taking sociology courses, I was able to have a more holistic perspective because I was now able to see the intersection of an individual’s behaviour within their social system. The faculty at Brescia has smaller classes which helps dedicate time to asking questions, having lively discussions, and making you feel empowered.”
