Political Science

Are you inspired to be a political leader in your community? Or, are you captivated by the power of political unrest?

When you choose to study Political Science, you will build a strong foundation of political theories, behaviours and criticisms to leverage while becoming a trailblazer for social change. Uncover the relationship between women and politics, assess examples of leadership in crises or study the structures of governments around the world – in our Political Science program, you decide! Under the guidance of your dedicated and academically-recognized professors, you will enhance your problem solving, research and analysis skills through a variety of dynamic courses, including: Global Politics, Family Policy and Women in Civic Leadership.

Your Political Science experience doesn’t end in the classroom. Outside the classroom, you have an opportunity to be placed with a local government official where you can collaborate to complete a project for academic credit. Or, you can take your learning abroad, by taking advantage of an academic exchange. Through your study abroad experience you will immerse yourself in a new culture and build your network with peers and academic professors to experience multiple aspects of international politics.

“I immediately loved Brescia’s all-women’s environment, its smaller campus and small class sizes. But, at the same time, as a Brescia student it was amazing to have access to and be part of the larger campus at Western University. So, being a Brescia student was almost a two-for-one experience – both academically and on a social level.”

“Studying Political Science at Brescia has helped me to become an informed and active citizen who is able to listen to the viewpoints of others, and engage in meaningful discussions surrounding political issues. My Political Science professors were eager to hear my opinions and offer their advice. I could not have chosen a better place to nurture my passion for politics.”

“I have always believed in the importance of feminism, equality and surrounding yourself with strong women mentors and leaders. I knew that Brescia aligned with my values and would be a great place to start my career.”

“At Brescia I have had many opportunities to gain real-life experience. As part of the Women in Civic Leadership course at Brescia, I was paired with a mentor, the chair of the London Transit Commission. Being able to do research that I could apply is something that most undergraduate students do not get to do. My professors were really supportive of my research, too. This experience, and so many others, showed me that Brescia really cares about students and making sure we are prepared for the real world.”
