Our humanitarian action and human rights online courses are designed to equip you with practical, hands-on skills for helping people in crisis. In this program, you’ll explore topics such as international human rights law, crisis and first responder training, and intercultural communication. You’ll also be able to choose a course in one of the following subjects: pluralism and world religions, introduction to Islam, or cultural anthropology.

Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about:

  • Core emergency management principles essential to mitigating, planning for, responding to, and recovering from disasters
  • Foundational aspects of faith-based humanitarian action and leadership
  • Methods for organizing a faith-based humanitarian response
  • Theological foundations for humanitarian action and human rights
  • Ways to steer and guide civil society, government, and international institutions toward using their power to advance the rights of the oppressed

From there, you will pursue a specialization of your choosing. Each specialization is designed to offer focused training in a particular aspect of humanitarian action. No matter which degree track you choose, you’ll be able to hone your skill set to match your unique interests and goals.

To round out the program, you will complete a capstone course that can help you apply what you’ve learned. By engaging with local humanitarian organizations during this course, you can prepare to step out into the field and make an impact on people around the world.
