This program offers a unique mix of on-campus and online coursework affording opportunities for critical engagement in topics of relevance to today’s educators.

Designed for classroom teachers and educators involved in language and literacies, this 15.0 unit Master of Education program will enrich educators’ practices and encourage the development of professional leaders within the diverse area of language and literacies education.

Outcomes

Students in this program will:

  • critically read and evaluate research literature in various areas of language and literacies
  • research and evaluate theoretically-based pedagogical practices and empirical studies
  • discuss cultural issues related to language and literacies learning, and understand and analyze how such issues affect pedagogical practices
  • analyze curriculum with a view to differentiating for learners from diverse backgrounds and with varying abilities
  • write research papers that demonstrate critical and creative thought
  • compose written, visual and oral presentations to demonstrate understanding of core concepts related to language and literacies teaching and learning
