Applied Human Nutrition Major

Applied Human Nutrition

Why Applied Human Nutrition?

Food is essential to our culture and health.

In Applied Human Nutrition, you’ll learn how human nutrition can be used to maintain health and prevent disease. You’ll also dive into the complex individual and social behaviours relating to food and how these behavioural factors influence nutrition habits throughout the lifespan. Using this theoretical knowledge, you’ll be well-equipped to translate the latest evidence into practical programs and policies.

Students in the AHN program may also be interested in studying Food Science, Nutritional and Nutraceutical Sciences, or other majors.

My practicums included working with the University's Wellness Education Centre; they developed my peer support, teamwork and communication abilities and allowed me to use equipment and tools that I'll use in my career. My goal is to become a social worker and these skills will be very useful in my career path.
