With a Bachelor of Arts in Government – Politics and Policy, you can pursue careers in government and make a difference at the local, state, or national level. You will gain a diverse introduction to political and economic ideas and the many processes of our government.

In this program, you will learn more about the close relationship between a system of limited constitutional government and the free enterprise economy. You’ll also get an overview of how Judeo-Christian principles helped to shape the government we have today.

You will be taught by professors who are grounded in their Christian faith and ready to share their experience and knowledge of the major schools of political science. You will also discover the relationship this field has with history, economics, and various other disciplines.

To better prepare you for work in government or politics, we offer a broad range of topics that are thoroughly covered, so that you feel equipped with the knowledge and training you need to be successful. A lot of time is given on the topic of free enterprise economy and its relationship with our form of limited government. You will gain an understanding of the issues, interests, and institutions of American state and local government in the framework of federalism.

You will learn how the various international and domestic policymaking processes interact. GOVT 200 – Constitutional Government and Free Enterprise

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • Diverse introduction to political and economic ideas, government institutions, free market processes, public issues, economic policy, and political and economic activity.
  • This course will emphasize the close relationship between a system of limited constitutional government and the free enterprise economy and providing an overview of the Christian worldview with regard to government and economics.

GOVT 210 – Introduction to Political Science

A comparative survey of the scope, methodologies, and major schools of political science, including its links with history, economics, and other cognate fields.

GOVT 320 – American Executive Processes/Institutions

The office and legal powers of government executives, especially the President, including trends in the Presidency during periods of conservative and liberal dominance.

Admission Requirements for Undergraduate Degrees

Every application is reviewed by the admission committee on a case-by-case basis, meaning there are no set minimums for acceptance. However, all applicants must submit the following documents* for admission:

  • Admission application
  • Official high school transcripts
  • Official college transcripts (if applicable)
  • Results from the CLT, SAT, or ACT are not required for admission, but may be used in consideration for merit-based aid.
  • Admission essay

*Note that additional documentation may be requested by the admission committee after your application has been received.
