Science Co-op Program

Computer Science

Our Computer Science Co-op students know the fundamentals of information processing and storage, computer architecture and applications using state-of-the-art equipment.

Here's what Computer Science students can do for you:
  • Software and webpage design, development and programming, testing, implementation, documentation, and maintenance
  • Application training, Network and Database design and administration
  • Hardware and software application support, Research

Mathematics & Statistics

Mathematics and Statistics, are concerned with quantitative and geometric structure and form, and making inferences from limited information.
Our Math and Stats Co-op students know about calculus, algebra, geometry, graph and number theory, probability, statistics, topology and basic computer science.

Here's what Mathematics and Statistics students can do for you:
  • Survey frame creation and maintenance
  • Questionnaire design and evaluations, Data protection and confidentiality
  • Data collection, editing, imputation, and analysis
  • Research, Estimation of parameters of interest and their variance
  • Computer programming
  • Actuarial reporting

Chemistry and Biochemistry

Chemistry is the study of properties of materials, syntheses of compounds, characterization and determination of structures of compounds, measurement of reaction kinetics and understanding the mechanisms of chemical processes. Biochemistry is the study, understanding and exploration of biological processes using chemical and biological techniques.

Here's what Chemistry and Biochemistry students can do for you:
  • Basic laboratory techniques: titrations, dilutions, gravimetry, instrumental calibration, and preparation of standard reagents
  • Routine operation of instruments: pH meter, UV/vis spectrophotometer, conductivity meter, etc.
  • Sample collection and preparation, procedure and design, Data entry, Research and analysis

Physics

Physics is the study of nature at its most fundamental levels. Our Physics Co-op students are prepared for careers in medical and nuclear physics, optics, computation, and electronics and modern physics.

Here's what Physics students can do for you:
  • Research: industrial applications and medical research, Experimentation and documentation
  • Computation and physical modelling, Data collection and analysis, Mathematical modelling
  • Software development, Computer programming, Hardware development and networking

Biology

Biology deals with many different levels of the organization of life: structure, functioning and evolution of organisms, and the interactions of organisms with other organisms and with the environment.

Here's what Biology students can do for you:
  • Biological and Chemical Laboratory and Field Work
  • Sampling and Data Collection and analysis

Geology

Geology deals primarily with the study of the Earth and other planets: their composition, structure and the natural processes occurring both on the surface and within the interior. Field and laboratory training are important aspects in the geology program. Geology co-op students are adaptive, and are keen to learn new skills as well as to apply existing skills in new ways.

Here's what Geology students can do for you:

  • Laboratory and Field Work, Geological mapping, Mineral and rock identification
  • Analysis of complex geological problems, Geochemical and petrographic analysis
  • Sampling and data collection
