The University of Victoria is one of Canada’s leading research-intensive universities. We are located in Victoria, on the BC coast.
The UVic Edge combines three elements: dynamic learning, vital impact and our extraordinary academic environment.
Together, these three elements nurture an environment of discovery, innovation and creativity. The Edge fortifies our work in sustainability and healthy societies. It shapes our world view with diverse perspectives, including those from Indigenous and international communities. It fuels our commitment to economic well-being, technological advances and social justice.
If you're planning on studying at UVic in September 2021, applications for on-campus housing are open. Please consider joining our fantastic residence community and take advantage of everything UVic has to offer. We will continue to adjust our approach to the pandemic as directed by the Provincial Health Officer, Island Health and the University.
Whether you're joining us from down the street or across the globe, we're thrilled you've chosen to take the next steps of your educational journey at UVic. The best way to succeed in university is to start from day one and we have a variety of programs, resources and orientation activities to help you have a successful beginning. We're committed to supporting you as you transition into this new chapter of your life and can't wait to welcome you to our community!
Whether you're on the fast track to your dream job or aren't sure where to start, Co-op and Career can help you make it happen. We'll help you navigate from busy student to happily employed graduate.
UVic students are above-average users of their athletic facilities when compared to students across Canada. To accommodate their needs, UVic offers a wide range of athletic and recreation facilities, also available to faculty, staff and the community. These include the new CARSA facility, McKinnon Gym and Pool, Outdoor artificial turfs and world-class field hockey pitch, as well as the Ian Stewart Ice rink.
The UVSS has more than 200 active clubs, which add to our dynamic and lively student community.
Accommodations reduce barriers and provide different ways of meeting essential course or program requirements. Of course, fulfilling these essential course or program requirements remains your responsibility.
The Office of Global Engagement develops and promotes global partnerships that advance UVic's strategic goals for internationalization, which includes:
- providing support to UVic faculty and staff in furthering their international activities
- coordinating international partnerships, projects and programs that enhance UVic's diverse intercultural and global environment.
If you can't visit us in person, take our virtual tour to see the natural beauty of the UVic campus from wherever you are in the world.
