A compulsory new student orientation program is run on each Massey campus and provides students with valuable information of how to be successful in their studies at Massey, campus and city tours, health and safety issues while in New Zealand, and a chance to meet both international and New Zealand students.

Student life is not just about studying and so Massey provides you with a range of indoor and outdoor recreational, cultural, and leisure programs through the Recreation and Student Association Centres. Campus facilities include circuit and cardio training rooms, squash, basketball, and volleyball courts, climbing wall, dance room, as well as playing fields for rugby, soccer, and hockey.

Throughout the year, the Massey Student Association and the Massey International Support Centre organize a variety of day trips, sporting events, BBQ’s, dinners, cultural events, and other activities for students to participate in.

There are a variety of clubs to choose from at Massey, including the Massey Rugby Club, Alpine Club, Christian Fellowship, Massey Soccer, Student Chinese Association, Postgraduate Club, and many more.

Most housing on-campus have access to the internet via a telephone line connection in individual rooms, there are also mini-computer labs in the housing blocks, as well as large computer labs around campus. All students may register for a university e-mail address during their enrolment at the university.

There are several cultural clubs on campus and allocated rooms for meetings etc., including a general international student lounge, Maori association, Chinese association, and others.

The International Office is the central point of contact for international students with dedicated support staff to provide you with on-going support throughout your studies at Massey. The University has a modern computerized library with in excess of 850,000 volumes, which is supported by an electronic online journal service. Other student services include accommodation placement, free airport pickup, chaplaincy, computer facilities and support, disability services, a Health and Medical Centre, a Learning Support Centre, and student counseling services. Students attending the Massey Palmerston North campus receive free bus services throughout the city.

Massey has several exchange agreements with universities within Canada, USA, Scandinavia, England, Europe, and Asia.
