IU offers a combined approach for many of its programmes, for students to study both online and on campus. With the combined online and on-campus study model, students have the freedom to spend a semester studying from home, and the next semester on a university campus in Berlin or Bad Honnef. Study each semester wherever it makes most sense. Our WES Canada Recognition

We are now recognised by WES Canada, a trusted non-profit providing education credential assessments (ECA) that are officially accepted by academic institutions, government bodies and employers throughout Canada. As an IU graduate, you'll be able to work or study in Canada as your degree can be converted into points according to Canadian academic standards in the Canadian Immigration Point System.

Berlin Campus

Founded in 2015, our campus in Berlin is the perfect place for students looking to experience life in a major European capital.

And not just any capital: Berlin is one of the most unique places in Europe, offering a truly international mix of cultures, experiences, career opportunities and fun activities.

IU's Berlin campus is quiet and intimate, so you can study in peace, but also centrally located, in the city's lively Friedrichshain neighbourhood. Need a break from studying, or want to relax with oyour study partners? Explore the many restaurants, cafés, shopping malls and bars located just a few minutes' walk from the campus.

And to top it all off, your student transportation card, included in the costs of your tuition, will allow to visit all of the city's many cultural hotspots, along with historical sites such as Brandenburg Tor and sections of the Berlin Wall.

Bad Honnef Campus

Founded in 1998, our campus in Bad-Honnef campus is located just a short distance from beautiful Cologne, at the heart of Germany's NRW region, in the country's west.

The campus is quiet and relaxed, located in a beautiful and serene green village, but it's also a part of one of Europe's main business and financial areas, with countless work and networking opportunities all around you.

You can choose if you want to live in the big city nearby, or live on campus in the student village, where you can enjoy life at an easy pace as you focus on your studies.

Whatever you choose, you'll live an international environment, with plenty of restaurants, bars and shops close by.

Student life

The student experience that awaits depends on your preferences, and on the campus you choose. The Bad-Honnef campus environment is different that the Berlin campus environment, and living in Germany's NRW region is different than living in the country's capital.

What both campuses offer though, is a strong international network of fellow students, full support from experienced lecturers and various administration departments, such as the International Office and the Career Office, and the opportunity to live in two of Europe's largest tech and industry hubs.

Students in Berlin can expect exciting events happening on a regular basis, Europe's best nightlife, people from every corner of the world and a faced-paced attitude, with countless of career opportunities for young professionals. The city also has many parks and lakes, and it's surrounded by woods, which means there's always a great trail to hike or a new place to swim in on the weekends.

Students in Bad-Honnef can expect a quieter, more relaxed pace, having the campus and friends all within a short distance, and many unique student activities, celebrations and clubs that they can join.

And if you feel the need for something different, Cologne and Bonn, with their museums, galleries, shopping malls and great nightlife options, are just a short distance away.

Accommodation

For students at our Bad-Honnef campus, we offer the possibility of on-campus accommodation, in six modern apartment blocks. The student apartments are located either right at the heart of campus, or just a two-minute walk away; are fully furnished and with Wi-Fi; and also include a shared laundry room.

Experience campus life to the fullest, in an intimate town, combining privacy and being surrounded by friends and colleagues, on your own or in a shared apartment. Or, you can live close by, and rent an apartment or a shared room in the bustling cities Bonn or Cologne, and combine living in a big city with studying in a quiet campus.

For students at our Berlin campus, on-campus accommodation is not available. However, we do offer help with finding an apartment in the city, or a room in one it's many shared apartments. Due to the campus' central location, at the heart of Berlin, it's easily accessible by public transportation or bicycle.

Visa

Students with an EU-member country citizenship, planning to attend on-campus lectures during a part (or all) of their studies, do not require a residence permit in order to enter Germany.

Students without an EU-member country citizenship, planning to attend on-campus lectures during a part (or all) of their studies, must obtain a valid residence permit in order to be able to study in Germany.

This only applies to students who wish to attend one semester or more on campus in Germany. Students planning to perform all of their studies online via the IU virtual campus, do not need to obtain a residence permit, regardless of their citizenship.
