Profile

We have been training wilderness guides since 1990. People from all over the world and from all walks of life have graduated from our programs and gone on to fill the employment needs of the adventure tourism industry worldwide. These programs are about "guiding in the wilderness" and provide participants with a solid base of working knowledge and practical skills. We conduct a variety of programs from entry level guide training to management training. These programs are intense training modules that can be taken separately or in various combinations to provide a graduated approach to guide training. All programs are registered with the Private Post-Secondary Education Commission of British Columbia.

Areas of Expertise

Chilcotin Holidays offers Horse Based One and Two Week Wilderness Guide Training programs, a One Week Advanced Wilderness Guide Training program, and a One Week Guide Outfitter Training course. One week courses in Guide Outfitter and Adventure Tourism Management, Horse Logging, Angling Guide Training, and Wilderness Log Cabin Building are also offered.

On Campus Housing

Accommodation is a combination of ranch tent cabins and alpine camp(s). The cost of accommodation is included in the program cost.

Career Planning

Graduates are given the Chilcotin Holidays Guide Standards and Apprenticeship Log Book. The purpose of the book is to register all related training, experience, licenses, and tickets as graduates work toward becoming professional guides. Chilcotin Holidays gives priority for employment to those that graduate from our wilderness training programs, but it is not guaranteed. Graduates hired by us have been employed to guide our guests on our distinct adventures. Graduates not hired by us have found suitable employment through our referral program. This includes our listing of current and past job postings of 450 established wilderness operators.

Affiliated Institutions

Chilcotin Holidays training programs are registered with the Private Career Training Institutions of British Columbia.

International Involvement

International students are welcome. We have students from all over the world take our programs including Germany, US, UK, Austria, Denmark, The Netherlands, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and Switzerland.
