Scholarships
DescriptionOur art education program will turn you into an outstanding artist and teacher. You’ll take liberal arts and art courses – learning about materials, theory and practices. In addition, you’ll take education courses and spend time observing and teaching in local classrooms. You’ll learn about child and adolescent development, curriculum, classroom strategies, methods of teaching and more. You’ll graduate ready to be licensed to teach art, grades PreK to 12, in the state of Ohio.

Large institutions just can’t provide the individualized attention and opportunities you’ll find here. Our students learn just as much outside the classroom as they do inside. They participate in juried art shows and enter professional exhibitions. They go on field trips, teach workshops to children, produce art for fundraisers and interact with visiting artists. They take intensive, lab-based courses in the visual arts and work on real-world projects.

Here, you’ll become part of a family. You’ll enjoy small class sizes and amazing friendships with your classmates. Our dedicated professors will get to know you. They will support you in your coursework, creative endeavors, field experiences and career preparations. They will become personally invested in your success and will open doors for you.

It takes a special person to teach. When you graduate from ONU, you’ll be ready to advocate and share your passion for the arts with the next generation!
