Description | This full-time Foundation Degree in Ceramics aims to encourage your creative flair, while giving you the knowledge and skills required to be successful in the Ceramics industry. Using a mix of lectures, seminars, technical workshops, demonstration and supervised studio activities, you will develop the technical skills used in the forming process such as throwing, plaster forming and hand building. You’ll also have the opportunity to experiment and develop your own glazes to use on your work and gain instruction on the use of kilns and the different firing effects.
To underpin these practical skills, you will also gain an understanding of ceramic theory and how contemporary studio ceramics is practiced and promoted, facilitating self-reflection, critical analysis and encouraging professional standards of work. The lecturing staff are practicing ceramicists with links to the industry. This supports the work based learning element of the programme, which gives students the opportunity to use their acquired skills in the workplace, gain experience and enhance their employability. | | |
