DescriptionJointly sponsored by Department of Chemistry and the School of the Environment. This program brings the basic science orientation of Environment and Science to a fundamental background in Chemistry as applied to understanding the chemical impacts of humankind's activities on the soil, water, and air. Emphasis is given to developing the analytical skills and mechanistic understanding of the subject. The Environmental Chemistry Program includes the study of chemical pollutants and natural processes that govern their fate and effects in the environment. The program involves a solid foundation in chemistry with specialized courses in environmental and analytical chemistry; breadth environmental science courses are offered through the School of the Environment.
