DescriptionThis course allows you to develop your understanding of the breadth and importance of animal behaviour. You will consider how behaviour is shaped by the interaction of genetics, evolutionary history and present-day environments. You will also examine the ways that behaviour changes over the lifetime of organisms and the genetic, physiological, hormonal and environmental mechanisms that control it. You will learn how to record behavioural data and use specialist software for its analysis. Applications include the use of behaviour analysis to improve the welfare and management of domestic, wild and zoo populations. Species studied include the whole range of animal life from ragworms to rhinos, from locusts to lemurs.
