Description | Provides teacher education with an Aboriginal and northern-Manitoba perspective. Incorporates Aboriginal cultural knowledge with current research regarding effective instructional practices and responses to issues in the education of northern and Aboriginal children and youth. A collaborative approach among students, Elders, university faculty, local educators, and community members will be emphasized. Graduates are not only proficient enough as teachers to effectively meet the needs of children and youth in the North but capable of teaching effectively anywhere in Manitoba.
To graduate with an integrated Bachelor of Interdisciplinary / Bachelor of Education degree, students must meet the requirements for the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree and the requirements of the Bachelor of Education After Degree program. A Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree will signify that a student has a solid foundation in the liberal arts and sciences, as well as a broad base of knowledge and skills in a variety of areas. (The Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies program is exclusive to students enrolled in the integrated Bachelor of Interdisciplinary / Bachelor of Education program.) | | |
