DescriptionChild Nursing students require the desire to work closely with children, young people and their families with both acute and chronic illnesses. Children’s nurses work as part of a multidisciplinary team and work closely with specialist nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, play specialists, social workers and others to provide and coordinate the health and wellbeing of children, young people and their families. Individuals who pursue this career should be able to communicate well with both children and their families, work as part of a team and demonstrate a non-judgemental and caring approach towards families from a wide range of backgrounds.

Students will learn how to:
• Focus on the child, or young person, as a dynamic developing individual while supporting parents to care collaboratively for the child
• Develop strong working partnerships with colleagues in multidisciplinary teams to provide and coordinate the health and wellbeing of children, young people and their families
• Develop practical skills and manage time effectively
